Reminders and Announcements

Scholastic Book Orders- I sent out Scholastic book order forms last week. I will be placing the order tomorrow, May 11th, in order for the books to arrive before the last day of school. Please order online or send in a completed order form and check. Thank you!

Library Books- Library books or book replacement costs must be turned in now for students to receive their report card.

Attendance- There are way too many students being pulled early from class. It is important for your child to be at school all day. Please make sure you are only dismissing your child from class for emergencies and appointments. Thank you for your support.

Proposition 100- Please vote YES on Prop 100!
The Arizona Legislature is asking voters to temporarily raise the sales tax by 1%, until May 31, 2013. The election will take place on Tuesday, May 18, 2010. The following is a link that has information that will explain the proposition’s potential impact. Please check it out!

Pool Party- 0n Monday, May 24th from 1:30-3:00, we will be having a pool party with Mrs. Johnson’s class here at La Paloma Academy. You are all welcome to join us.  We are hiring two lifeguards and will be getting Eegees drinks, so there will be a fee of $2.00 per student. The permission slip will be going home today with this newsletter. Please return this form and $2.00 by Friday, May 14th.
Pool Party Rules

• Lifeguards have final say on what is and isn’t permitted in the pool area
• Lifeguards have the right to remove anyone from the pool area that is unsafe or disrespectful
• Swimsuits only, no street clothes permitted in the pool
• No lotions or oils, waterproof sunscreen only
• No large pool floats allowed, small pool toys are okay
• All food and drinks must stay outside the fenced pool area
• No diving and stay off the diving blocks
• No water balloons, water guns, or squirt guns
• No rough play
• No running

Bowling- Our bowling party will be Thursday, May 27th. The cost for the bowling party in $5.50. We will need four or five chaperones for the bowling trip that will be able to drive themselves to and from the bowling alley.

The combined cost for the end of the year activities is $7.50. This is due Monday, May 17th. Please let me know in writing if you are able to chaperone for either or both no later than the 17th as well.

Homework

Math
This week, the students will bring home two math worksheets for each night. One will be the back side of the Saxon worksheet and the other will be a subtraction, multiplication, or division worksheet.

Spelling
The following is the spelling homework for the week:

Monday- Copy each word three times.
Tuesday- Write all 20 words in alphabetical order.
Wednesday- Choose 10 words and write 10 complete sentences.
Thursday- Choose 10 words and write the definition of each word.
